82" x 40" This shawl is made from an age-old blend of silk and fine Yak wool, which lends itself to being incredibly soft and warm. They follow the traditional weaves of the Tibetan people. Although Tibet was overthrown by China decades ago, the native culture still lives on in Nepal and northern India where the Tibetans fled for their lives and freedom. Today, many Tibetans living in Dharamsala, India have begun weaving beautiful textiles to support their families. These shawls are created by Tsering Dorji and her husband Tsetan Lhamo. They are highly favored by the people of India, and by the Tibetan refugees who use them as prayer shawls.
