7"x 3" This hand-hammered singing bowl is magnificent! The large size lends itself to a wide tonal range allowing for deep soul vibrating sounds and medium to near high pitches as well. Made from the sacred seven metal alloy used in traditional Tibetan singing bowls. Crafted by the Tibetan refugees who now reside in Nepal. Fairtrade.
In Tibetan Buddhism the singing bowl is used as a meditation object. The bowl is a representation of the infinite feminine and puja or wooden mallet is a representation of the masculine, together they create balance. The sound that is made when the two parts are used together is call the Om. In Buddhism this is the sound of creation, the sound that all things have originated from and that all things will return to. The Om is the most emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and physically healing sound that exists. Simply tap the wooden mallet against the edge of the bowl and draw it around the top outer edge of the bowl until the Om resounds. The sound can be manipulated and altered by changing the angle the mallet is held against the side of the bowl. The bowl can also be used as a bell or chime by tapping the mallet against the edge.
