This beautiful mosaic lamp is handcrafted in Istanbul, Turkey by Azgur Miray. Made from hand cut pieces of glass and a variety of glass beads, each lamp glimmers with it our unique character.
Lighting was an important symbol of civilization and wealth in the Ottoman empire. Over the course of centuries lighting evolved from crudely decorative candle and oil lamps into intricately mosaiced electric lights.
The first ancestors of modern day Turkish lamps were found in the Bathhouses, Mosques and Palaces of Istanbul; a symbol of religious and cultural importance.
This Lamp uses E12 candelabra bulbs and is currently equipped with a 40 watt equivalent LED version of this bulb which will last for up to 30,000 hours. To replace the bulb remove the glass globe from the interior metal hinges VERY slowly and carefully. Hold and squeeze the metal hinges while pulling the globe outwards so as not to break the bulb inside the socket. Put the lamp back together by carefully squeezing the metal hinges into the glass globe and releasing them very slowly.
